The Frapart Hotel, built in the 1880s, originally had five guestrooms facing the front and five guestrooms facing the rear. A wraparound porch provided access to each individual room as there were no interior common spaces. Today, the original room layout is reflected on both the ceilings and floors.
The walls are adorned with dozens of enlarged post cards of Mandeville scenes and buildings from the early 1900s, including several of Rest Awhile. Hanging on the wall is the last known wood sled from the multi-story Shoot-to-Shoot water slide that was previously located on the lake.
The original hardware, woodwork and floors were painstakingly restored or refurbished. The dining tables, hand crafted from sinker cypress, offer a simple, but elegant place setting. The original French doors still provide beautiful views of the lake from the inside and rocking chairs on the porch await your arrival.
The Frapart serves as the main dining room for Pat’s Rest Awhile, with seating available on the porch, at the inside bar or in the main dining area. Come enjoy great food and great service while stepping back into the history of Old Mandeville.
